Caren worked with the team at Small Foundation to develop their Theory of Change for alleviating extreme poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030 through catalyzing income-generating opportunities for extremely poor people in rural sub‑Saharan Africa. Evaluation: Nesta’s Rapid Recovery Challenge
Nesta’s Rapid Recovery Challenge is designed to support innovators that will provide tools and services at scale that improve access to jobs and money for people within the UK, focusing on those hardest hit by the economic shock resulting from COVID-19. Caren, working with the advisory support of Isabela Souza, is providing evaluation services to the Challenge, including assessing impact on target end-users and efficacy of the Challenge.
Theory of Change Facilitation: FSC Strategy
This project used theory of change techniques and methodology to help inform the Forest Stewardship Council’s Global Strategy. Work included designing and facilitating a 2-day workshop with the FSC Board as well as preparation calls and debriefs with Board committees and advisory of how to apply theory of change to strategy and performance management and measurement. Theory of Change Facilitation: Fair Trade USA
Caren, working with Aimee Russillo of Liseed Consulting, supported the Fair Trade USA team to develop their refreshed theory of change. This included drafting and facilitating workshops to help frame up the theory and underlying assumptions. The Fair Trade USA Theory of Change can be found here.
Research: Entrepreneurship Within Reach
Guided research to capture the work of Youth Business International’s members. Developed the methodology and approach and coordinated with Dalberg’s research team and YBI to articulate the lessons learned and approach to supporting youth-led MSMEs. The final report can be found here.
Strategic Advisory & Coaching: Cultivate
With support from the Vitol Foundation, Farm Africa has established Cultivate, a business development services hub based in Kenya. Cultivate will provide appropriate business development services to rural small and growing agribusinesses across eastern Africa through a commercial model. Caren is providing support to Cultivate through coaching and advisory to inform the BDS service design, delivery and commercial strategy.
